This appeal relates to an application for initial registration declined by the competency assessment board (CAB). The appeal was filed by the applicant on the grounds (1) the evidence provided to the assessment panel does not support the CAB’s decision (a) his qualification exceeds the assessment panels recommendations (b) complex engineering has been demonstrated (c) the assessment panels critism of the assignment set is incorrect and (2) the applicant was disadvantaged by an online interactive assessment. The applicant sort reconsideration to his evidence included a recheck of the assignment.The panel considered the applicant had failed to adequately demonstrate, to the level required by rule 6, the applicants knowledge and involvement in complex engineering activities and complex engineering problems including those within NZ jurisdiction.The applicants initial registration was declined.
